“As you already know, I won the NaNoWriMo competition this year, er, beating the fifty thousand words by quite a substantial margin. But I’ve gone a couple of stages further.
“First one is the Winner’s Circle T-shirt, which is… you’ve still got to buy it but it’s only available to those who reach the target, and it’s a good job it’s the right size because I don’t fancy paying postage back to California.
“The other thing I’ve done is I’ve got the book professionally printed and bound, look at that, Fifty Million Nicker.
“The reason I’ve done that is, erm, not… well, not just for vanity but I have a friend of a friend who’s a professional proof reader, I have to be… professional - proof - rea… you get the idea, and she’s going to have a look at it and try and weed out the mistakes that have inevitably crept in when you try to write fifty thousand words in thirty days.
